Vaidava Ceramics Ikebana Composition Challenge

Inspired by its debut at the 2025 Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show (MIFGS) – the Southern Hemisphere’s most prestigious horticultural event and one of the top three of its kind globally, Vaidava Ceramics has announced a Northern Hemisphere spring Ikebana composition challenge which will run to 6 May, 2025 and has over AUD 750 in prizes.
What is Ikebana? It represents the traditional Japanese art of flower arranging, focused not just on the beauty of the blooms but on creating harmony between the flowers, the container, and the surrounding space. Unlike typical floral decorations that emphasise abundance and colour, Ikebana highlights minimalism, balance, and asymmetry, often using line, form, and natural elements like branches, leaves, and even empty space to evoke a sense of movement and emotion. Rooted in centuries of spiritual practice, especially within Buddhism, Ikebana reflects a deep respect for nature and a mindful, meditative approach to creativity.
Let your imagination flourish. Create your own Ikebana-inspired arrangement using any VAIDAVA CERAMICS piece. Whether you’re drawn to flowers, twigs, leaves, grasses or unexpected natural elements – design something that speaks to your soul and reflects the quiet poetry of the Northern Hemisphere spring or indeed the Southern Hemisphere autumn which we are in the midst of Down Under.
